What if I sell on a website, but I'm not the only jewelry designer there? The logo is for YOU, not for a website... so just make sure the logo either accompanies only YOUR listings or is on your personal bio page, etc. What if I sell jewelry, but also sell other things? Not a problem. Use the SRAJD logo for your jewelry items and don't use the SRAJD logo on your non-jewelry items. Remember, the logo is there to identify a piece of jewelry as one made by the person who's selling it. If you still have a question, email us. I don't see any quality standards for this organization. Right... SRAJD is an organization for sellers to be recognized as self-representing. We don't "jury" the applicants, but you must be doing more than putting a charm on an earwire. What do I get out of being a member? If you want to know "what's in it" for you this organization may not be the right place for you. We don't provide anything other than a community. We are here to think of ways to raise awareness of self-representing artist jewelry designers. We are here to stick together and lift another, not to be self-righteous of one another or fear the competition, etc. Because I believe in "strength in numbers", "two heads are better than one", and "no man is an island"… I feel that if we bond together in this organization, our collective knowledge and talent can work together toward the common goal of educating people to the benefits of buying jewelry directly from the artist. Why do you ask for and list our real names, rather than the names of our businesses or stores? Because you are the artist before you are the business... and the logo is assigned to YOU, not your business. The logo doesn't represent a store or a business; it represents an artist. What if my information changes someday? No problem. Just email us the information and we'll update the roster and/or our database. What URL should I used to direct people to the SRAJD site in case they want to join or have a question about what it's all about? http://www.SRAJD.com We're here to help. If you need further assistance, please email us. We will do our best to solve the problem. |
Can I start a group or fanpage to promote SRAJD? Absolutely! We only ask one thing. You have to make it crystal clear that you are a "member" of the SRAJD organization and not a representative of the SRAJD organization. We have had to shut down several groups already that were started and running as though it was something created by us or being run by us, the SRAJD organization. If you need help coming up with a title for your forum/page let us know; we're here to help. Some ideas that are perfectly fine include: "Fans of SRAJD", "Members of SRAJD", etc. Please do not use any titles that would imply the group was crated by us (such as: "SRAJD", or "Self-Representing Artists in Jewelry Design", etc). |
The Organization We are a grassroots organization (we don't advertise; it's all word of mouth) that brings together jewelry makers who sell their own work… as in "Self-Representing Artists in Jewelry Design"… from all over the globe. Aside from helping one another (being social, sharing tips, asking questions, etc), we try to think of ways to educate the buying public to the benefits of purchasing directly from the artist. Membership There is an annual $10 membership fee. We notify you before your membership expires to see if you'd like to renew. We do not auto-renew. When you apply, we look at photos of your work. We don't jury the applicants (everyone from the hobbyist to the professional is welcome). However if your jewelry conists of attaching store bought charms to necklace chains or earwires, we will not consider your application. We process the applications every day, but Monday is our official "administrative" day. When you submit your application, we will process it and most likely get back to you within a day or two letting you know if everything looks okay or if we still need something from you. On Mondays (other than holidays and rare personal emergencies), we send out the welcome letters to new members. The welcome letters have a lot of important information in them and should be read thoroughly. If you're not sure if you're already a member and/or if you are a member and can't recall your membership #, you can look yourself up here: http://www.artisimportant.com/SRAJD/Roster.htm) Ctrl+F is a webpage search function. Advertising Your Store We currently offer three forms of advertising your jewelry to the customers who shop through the SRAJD website. Only active members of the organization may take out an ad. You can take out a small, one-year ad for $10 (see this page for examples). You can take out a large, one-year ad for $25 (see this page for examples). You can place an ad in the digital edition of our quarterly catalog for $15 (example coming soon). We notify you before your ad expires to see if you'd like to renew your ad. We do not auto-renew. So you may hear of: -- Basic Members (any member currently not running an ad on the website) -- Contributors (any member currently running a small ad for one year) -- Sponsors (any member currently running large ad for one year) If any of your info changes at any time (different website, name change, etc), you may contact us and we will update the roster, our database, and/or info in your ad. SRAJD Socializing and Keeping Up with SRAJD Information We have a Facebook group where we do most of our socializing: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SRAJD/ We have a blog where you can find out all the recent important info: http://srajd.blogspot.com/ We send out a newsletter either once a month or less. If you're not getting the newsletters, you can find them in the "Members Only" section of the website. If you are a member and don't know how to log in to the "Members Only" section, just send me an email (with SRAJD in the subject): SRAJewelryDesigns @ gmail.com (remove the spaces). |
SRAJD Logo This is our logo. The one we send you is 300x300 pixels in 72dpi. We find that a good size for speedy loading on websites. We started out with a different logo, but changed it recently (the change was met with much approval). If you're still using the old logo and want to upgrade to the new one, just email me with your SRAJD membership # (find it here: http://www.artisimportant.com/SRAJD/Roster.htm) and make sure "SRAJD" is in the subject line. When we first started out (2005), we did things a little differently than we do now. You may notice changes other than just the logo. We don't, as a rule, put your membership # onto your logo, but if you request it we can do it for you. It's easiest for us if you request it through our Facebook group page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SRAJD). A lot of people ask us how to put the logo onto their websites, their ArtFire stores, their blogs, etc. Once you download the jpg to your computer, you would attach it just like any other photo file used for your website, etc. We will be putting a special section on the blog for detailed instructions as soon as time allows. Contacting Us When you email us, you must put "SRAJD" in the subject line. If you don't, we may not find your email and/or it may end up in the spam folder (not a place I can easily pick through). Please also include your SRAJD membership # in the email. So that's what we're mostly about and how we function. If you have any questions, contact us through the website: www.SRAJD.com Thanks for being a part of the whole! And now… the rest of our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) |
